FALL NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH BLACK LABEL SOCIETY
Following a calendar year of worldwide headline touring behind their career best Top 35 soundscan CD Strange Cousins From the West and subsequent critically acclaimed Top 10 Dual DVD Live at the 9:30, CLUTCH announced they will share the stage with hard rock acts Black Label Society and Children of Bodom on the 37 date "Black Label Bezerkerus North American Tour" this Fall. Clutch will perform as direct support to Zakk Wylde's longtime band on almost 2 dozen of the concerts which kick off in Vancouver on September 22nd and finish up the weekend before Thanksgiving in San Francisco.  Check out the dates below for the complete list of dates.

"Clutch's recent hard-nose work ethic is unparalled by today's standard rock acts. The past 12-18 months have been the busiest time period of Clutch," stated label manager Jon Nardachone, referring to Clutch's THREE Bonnaroo sets, played within 24 hours in the smoldering 100 heat on the June 11^th and 12^th weekend. Nardachone adds "They feed off the energy of the greatest diehard fans in the world. We all wonder how they get up for it night after night after night, but as I witnessed 10,000+ rock & roll crazies simultaneously chanting 'Bang Bang Bang Bang! Vamanos! Vamanos!' in the middle of the Tennessee night, it all makes sense."

BEALE STREET AND OTHER DRT RE-ISSUES ARE COMING
Weathermaker has announced July 20th as the official release date for the first of three 2010 re-issues from the band's DRT years. The enhanced, expanded edition of From Beale Street to Oblivion will be a 22 song, double CD not only features multiple versions of the band's widely popular blues rock anthem "Electric Worry," but includes 5 songs recorded at the Maida Valle Sessions at the world famous BBC studios in London, and 4 songs recorded live in Australia, as well as updated and upgraded artwork and packaging. From Beale Street to Oblivion isn't the only re-issue in the works either. Weathermaker will re-issue Robot Hive/Exodus in September and Blast Tyrant in November, also as dual disc/expanded editions. Look for special vinyl versions of all the re-issues as well.

"Live at the 9:30" DVD Review

Nearly 20 years of working on the gig-and-purge shift has allowed Clutch to really refine their collective vice-like grip on their material, and man, does it show on their exhilarating two-film, two-DVD set. Live at the 9:30, features the entire thrust of their 90-minute gig from Washington D.C.’s 9:30 club on December 28, 2009. Fortune Tellers Make a Killing Nowadays, another 90-minute film, follows the Maryland band from the western United States to eastern Canada, offering behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with the band, crew, management, and fans in every city along their path.

And these fans are loyal. This is a Maryland band that has slowly metamorphosized out of the dawn of the grunge and post-hardcore era, and found itself with a completely unique sound, which gathers together strands of hard rock, metal, prog, psychedelic shades and colors, and funk to create a genre onto themselves. With nary a nod to current influences, Clutch manages to sound fresh and contemporary by focusing on the almighty riff as its core foundation. The D.C. gig, which includes the band covering their entire 1995 self-titled album, sandwiched in between old and new favorites, is excellent and quite a souvenir for that longtime fan, or an opportunity for a new fan to see what it is this quartet does to keep its groove.

Band interviews feature each musician discussing how they continue to work on their craft, and hone their sound to perfection, keeping themselves open to new ideas within their two-decade adventure. Frontman/vocalist/guitarist Neil Fallon is the soul of the band, crafting ingenious reams of lyrics while roaring out vocals on stage. Bassist Dan Maines with his witty asides and textbook engine room rhythm work helps solidify the band’s sound. Lead guitarist Tim Sult, with his classic Gibson Les Paul guitar, Marshall and Orange amp setups, offers hard rock motifs and psychedelic imagery, which is also almost AC/DC meets Parliament/Floydian in its simplicity, but also damned original.

However, one thing is strikingly obvious as both films unfold in a truly memorable and exciting fashion. It’s drummer Jean-Paul Gaster’s world. We just live in it. The skinsmith comes across as an expert student of the drum kit, even practicing after gigs according to stage manager and drum tech, Chase Lapp. But the veteran drummer is also an insightful spokesman for not only his band, but rock music, in general. One can tell that the man likes to have his fun, but he also has that timeless laser-like focus on his work, which is quite compelling to watch. Indeed, after watching and listening to numerous drummers over the years, one is hard-pressed to find a more inventive, powerful, and talented drummer, outside the likes of Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham.

CLUTCH LIVE AT THE 9:30 DVD IN MAY
On May11th Clutch will issue a brand new epic DVD set called Live at the 9:30. The 200 minute double disc concert will be sold at the fan friendly price of $19.98. Both discs were directed and produced by Agent Ogden, who first worked with the band on 2007's Full Fathom Five, Video Field Recordings.

DISC 1 FEATURES
The 90 minute full concert filmed last December at Washington DC's 9:30 Club on seven hi-definition cameras. In addition to favorites from Strange Cousins From The West, like "50,000 Unstoppable Watts," and "Let A Poor Man Be," the DVD will also include an electrifying version of the 1995 self-titled album in it's entirety. 

Also, an audio version of the 19 song concert will be available exclusively on iTunes beginning May 11th.

DISC 2 FEATURES
A 110 minute "road film" called Fortune Tellers Make a Killing Nowadays, which takes a behind-the-scenes look at Clutch during their 2009 tour. Disc 2 also includes rare band interviews as well as vintage never before seen footage documenting much of Clutch's history from 1991 to the present. 


"LET A POOR MAN BE" SINGLE
In support of the summer tour and the forthcoming Live at the 9:30 DVD, as well as the current Strange Cousins From the West CD, Weathermaker Music will release the new single "Let a Poor Man Be" on May 3rd, with an accompanying video clip and a rare promo only EP featuring unreleased material.


CLUTCH / THE BAKERTON GROUP AT BONNAROO
On June 4th Clutch will kick off another leg of their 2010 worldwide headlining tour. The early summer portion takes the band through the USA, Canada, Norway, Sweden, Greece, Italy and the UK. The band's instrumental jazz rock alter ego, The Bakerton Group will appear as one of the opening acts in North America. Both The Bakerton Group and Clutch will appear on the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 11th and 12th respectively.


CLUTCH CD AND VINYL RE-ISSUES COMING
As if that's not enough, Clutch and Weathermaker Music are currently preparing expanded CD and vinyl re-issues of catalog pieces From Beale Street to Oblivion, Robot Hive/Exodus and Blast Tyrant. These three projects will be available digitally and physically at retail and the band's websites on the CD/DVD format on June 22nd, August 17th and October 12th respectively. Double vinyl versions of all three re-issues will be available on November 23rd. Track listings are not yet available, but Weathermaker label manager Jon Nardachone hints at some very exciting details.

"The bonus content of the three re-issues will be entirely different. We're still sifting through unreleased Clutch originals, cover songs, live audio, live video, alternate takes, etc, One thing we know for sure is that each re-issue will have updated and upgraded artwork/packaging as well as additional music from the exact timeframe each CD was first released. This is not about tacking on a couple of unfinished demos to the end of each CD. We're producing these with the knowledge that Clutch fans expect something fresh, yet distinguishably representative of that moment in time. The diehard fan will appreciate these projects in a big way."

The Maryland based band has amassed a substantial catalog that includes nine studio albums, five live releases, and a handful of EPs. While Clutch's recorded sound may be most prominently colored by Sult's mammoth riffs and Fallon's gravelly, booming vocals and surreal, pseudo-social lyrical critiques, the true strength of the band is revealed at Clutch's live show. Veteran Maryland rock quartet CLUTCH are gearing up for the release of their ninth studio album, entitled Strange Cousins From the West. Produced by Clutch and J. Robbins at Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, the effort is the first Clutch original to be released on the band's own Weathermaker Music, through RED Distribution. Label manager Jon Nardachone reports "Strange Cousins..." will be available both physically and digitally through retail on July 14th, and fans who purchase the new album via iTunes will receive a free bonus track! An iTunes exclusive 10 minute Clutch "up close & personal" video documentary, produced by Agent Ogden!

Weathermaker Music, the label owned by touring juggernauts Clutch, has inked a multi-year, multiple release North American deal with Sony/BMG owned RED Distribution. First on deck, slated for a February 17th release through the formidable alliance, is the new BAKERTON GROUP release entitled “El Rojo!”

Produced by Clutch and J. Robbins at Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore, MD, “El Rojo” will be the first full tilt release from THE BAKERTON GROUP, the psychedelic instrumental jazz-laden alter ego of Clutch (all 4 original Clutch members make up The Bakerton Group). In addition, Per Wiberg from Opeth was brought in to handle all piano, synth and keyboard duties on all 10 of “El Rojo’s” tracks.

In other Clutch related news, some of the incredible footage from the band’s first ever live DVD/CD, “Full Fathom Five,” will be featured on Comcast Cable’s On Demand “Concert TV” channel starting December 15th, along with classic rock icons Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Black Crowes, Deep Purple, Santana, U2 & Motorhead.

* Clutch will end 2008 the same way they began it, on the road. In late December, they will headline a short run with Viking Skull and Russian Circles as support. Clutch & Weathermaker Team Up w/ MVD * New CD/DVD in stores Nov. 11th * Band To Appear on Hard Rock Hell Festival, Saw V Soundtrack, US Dates w/ Russian Circles and More!

For the past 8 weeks, Clutch’s first ever DVD “Full Fathom Five, Video Field Recordings,” and accompanying CD have been available at the band’s legendary live shows, through Merch.com and in about 150 select US, Canadian and UK independent retail outlets chosen by the band’s owned and self distributed Weathermaker Music label. This will increase ten-fold, as Weathermaker has teamed up with the MVD Entertainment Group to expand the reach of the “Full Fathom Five” project.

On November 11th, the acclaimed live Clutch DVD and accompanying “Full Fathom Five-Audio Field Recordings” CD will be available in over 1500 new retail outlets such as FYE, Best Buy, Coconuts, Fry’s, Hastings and Barnes & Noble.

“This is a fantastic progression for us after only three months as an active label.” states Weathermaker Music Label Manager Jon Nardachone. “Originally, our intention was to handle all CD and DVD sales directly through Weathermaker, but having the MVD Distribution team on board for the “Full Fathom Five” project ensures many ecstatic Clutch fans this holiday season.”

The track “Power Player” from that release, as well as “Full Fathom Five,” is featured on the Saw V Motion Picture Soundtrack released last week.

Maryland rockers CLUTCH are proud to announce their first-ever live DVD, FULL FATHOM FIVE, Video Field Recordings, which is set for release on August 12. BEALE STREET ARTWORK

A note from the band regarding the album art and packaging:

“A word about the artwork for From Beale Street to Oblivion - Nick Lakiotes designed the artwork for From Beale Street to Oblivion. He spent a long time generating original art and laying it out in what was to be a digipack format. A digipack, if you don’t already know, is the all-paper style of packaging for c.d.s’. We had approved a design that was to be in a matte paper complete with a removable booklet. It looked amazing. However, the U.S. pressing currently on the street features an unapproved design change in jewel case format. We apologize to Nick Lakiotes who worked so hard on his beautiful design and to our fans for not being able to purchase a better package, the type of packaging that we intended for this release.”
