The
following interview was taken from our good friends'
site, 1605.com.
Interview
taken at The Boardwalk in Sacramento California,
2-10-01.
Jason
Chamberlain- How is the tour with COC going?
Neil Fallon- It's great, it's about the 3rd
month of it, started it in November and it ends
in March. Everyone on the tour is mad cool, Spirit
Caravan was on it, Karma to Burn and Clearlight,
Nebula. I think it was probably one of the heaviest
rock tours to go through a lot of towns in a long
time.
JC
- Do you guys have any plans for another tour once
the COC tour ends?
NF - Yeah we're going to do 2 weeks up in
the Northeast in the Great Lakes. And then were
gonna try to go to Europe in April. Other than that
we don't have any major headlining tour runs planned
untilprobably the middle of late summer.
JC
-Will the band be having a cd release party around
the time that the new cd will hit stores?
NF - Actually we're doing a cd release party
tour, almost. We're doing like 2 weeks in a lot
of places like Ohio, Michigan and Boston, that same
tour I was just talking about a couple shows with
radio stations like a cd release party. That starts
March 20.
JC
- What bands would you be touring with?
NF - Nobody, it'll just be ourselves.
JC
- Assuming PRF is going to be the single off the
new album, Any word on a video?
NF - We probably won't have a video.
JC
- Do you have a favorite Marlon Brando or Steve
McQueen movie?
NF - No, actually I'm not a big fan of movies,
Marlon Brando was good in Apocalypse Now though.
JC - The Great Escape was pretty sweet too
NF - Yeah
JC
- If you got on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, who
would be your lifeline?
NF - Probably my dad, he's pretty bright.
JC
- What bands are you currently taking an ear to?
NF - Not much, I didn't bring any CD's on
tour because I always lose them. So I don't really
listen to anything. Trying to think there's gotta
be something.
(in the background "Jay-Z")
NF - Yeah Jay-Z (laughter)
JC
- There is a rumor going around that Clutch might
play on the Tattoo the Earth tour, any comments?
NF - News to me, we might but I haven't heard
anything about it.
JC
- Who is working on the artwork for the new cd?
NF - Shawn Evens, he's the guy who did the
Elephant Riders artwork.
JC - The b/w picture with Clutch at top and
Pure Rock Fury at the bottom?
NF - Yeah that's it
JC
- If you could describe Clutch to someone that has
never heard of you, how would you describe your
music?
NF - Good, Rock n roll
JC - What type of category if any?
NF - I dunno, its hard to say when your knee
deep in the middle of it. I know writers love to
describe and pigeonhole stuff, but we've been called
hardcore, we've been called metal, stoner-rock and
guitar-rock, whatever's clever.
JC
- Are there any plans for all the songs that were
recorded for Slow Hole to China?
NF - We always have the desire to put out
a b-sides album, but it's not a top priority.
JC
- What does the band think of the demos being sold
on Ebay and some of the songs leaking onto Napster?
NF - See the thing about demos its like,
they're not proper yet. And there's the people that
say the demos are better and that's the kind of
person that the first thing that they hear is what
they're going to fall in love with. I don't like
it when demos get out cause it's sorta like your
diary getting out, it's a rough draft. You don't
want your teacher to judge you on your rough draft
ya know. But as far as Napster and all that, that's
all well and good it doesn't bother me, just as
long as people don't make money off of it. And we
know who does, we know.
JC
- Besides making great music, what else do you all
do in your spare time?
NF - Not much, play station hockey. I don't
do a helluva lot. Sitting on the sofa is one of
my favorite pastimes.
JC
- Well thanks a ton for letting me do this interview
NF - Hey no problem
JC - Good luck on the rest of the tour
Thanks
to everyone who sent in questions. Thanks to the
band and crew for their generosity.
